In this Perfect Pitch Method review, I’ll discuss the popular ear training program from David Burge. Absolute (or “perfect”) pitch is the ability to recognize notes without any external references. David Burge developed a home study course nearly 30 years ago that teaches people how to recognize tones.
Unlike many products available online, Perfect Pitch actually sends you the whole course in the mail, and you can expect to get everything in about 1 week.

The course cost $129, and you get:
- 24 Master Classes on 8 CDs
- 80 page Easy Course handbook
- Relative Pitch Demo (free bonus disc)
- Perfect Pitch for Children (2nd Free bonus disc)
Mr. Burge has an interesting way of explaining tones as “colors,” and I found this to be very helpful. Many musicians (myself included) often overlook the importance of ear training. Learning to recognize pitches will do way more for your playing than practicing your instrument, believe it or not.
Quality of the Course: High
I found the layout to be very easy to follow. Be aware that there is A LOT of content, and this isn’t something you’re likely to finish in a weekend. The lessons are just challenging enough, without being too difficult.
Support: Good
I often judge products by the support they offer after you fork over your cash, so I put these guys to the test on purpose. I was pleased to find knowledgable staff got right back to me with helpful answers to my questions.
Guarantee: 40 Day No Questions Asked FULL Money Back Guarantee (I should note that they have the lowest refund rate in the Industry, it’s a very solid product)
The Bottom Line?
To be quite honest, this is the most popular Pitch Training Course in the world because it’s really good and they have great marketing. At $129, it’s a bit pricier, but you do actually get the CDs and the nice Course Handbook to keep, and not just MP3s and PDFs.
If you’re serious about learning to be able to name any note or chord by ear, you really should head on over to Perfect Pitch and have a look.
Good luck!
