The Epiphone SG Special – Pretty Good & Really Cheap
That’s pretty much the most important thing about the Epiphone SG Special… it’s a brand new SG for under $200. Now, if you’re expecting Gibson SG quality for that price, you’re out of your mind and you deserve to be disappointed. But, if you’re buying Junior his first guitar or you’re just starting out yourself, this is a hell of a deal.

My Personal Review of the Epiphone SG Special
You have to understand that this is an entry-level guitar. It’s not gonna stay in tune as well as it’s $1500 counterparts, and the overall build quality is going to be much poorer than more expensive Epiphone or Gibson models. Ok, now that we have that out of the way.
however, someone who has never played guitar much isn’t going to appreciate the finer aspects of a more expensive guitar anyway.
For a starter guitar, especially in this price range, I’m absolutely impressed with this guitar. Floored actually, this is cheap!
The action and tone were pretty good. Great when you consider other pieces of garbage in this price range.
This axe would also make a great backup guitar if you usually play a Gibson SG.
