Formal Guitar lessons- For those who really need instructions from a teacher, taking formal lessons might be the best option because there is a very efficient way to validate and track your progress.  Furthermore, the learning curve is very easy to follow because you will have access to constant guidance.  This is the reason why many parents choose to enrol their very young children to guitar lessons.  The younger you start, the faster you will learn.  The disadvantage of this option is that you will have to invest a great deal of money especially if you will hire a teacher to provide one on one instruction.
  3. Online guitar lessons- If you are short on money and there is no way that you can teach yourself how to play the guitar; the internet can help you greatly in providing instruction.  Choosing to learn guitar playing using online resources is really clever because it is just like having a professional music teacher without having to enrol in formal classes.  Although you will have to spend a certain amount of money, it would not nearly be half as much as the fees for formal guitar lessons.  It also offers the best points of DIY learning and formal lessons.  You can choose which time you would take the lessons but at the same time, there is an actual set of instructions that is provided for by a professional musician.  Plus, you can take the lessons over and over until you finally get it right and you will be able to check your work.
  4. Supplementary instructional materials- Aside from taking formal lessons or learning to play guitar using the internet, you can also get supplementary materials such as books that would help fast track the learning process.  It is very important that you learn more than just the basics.  There are certain books and other additional materials that you can use in order to get better at playing.

Tips

  • If you are serious in trying to learn guitar skills you have to make time for it every day or at least as regularly as you can manage.  The saying practice makes perfect can never be truer in this case.
  • There is a certain level of discomfort during the first few times playing the guitar so you just have to stick with it until you get used to the feeling.  After a while, you will get comfortable with it and eventually, you will not even notice any discomfort at all.

  • It is advisable that you get your own piece so you will not have to adjust from a borrowed guitar when you finally decide to purchase one.
  • Guitars go for a few hundred dollars to over thousands depending on the quality as well as the brand.  You can start with something that is basic which is reasonably affordable.
